How 7cal uses AI

Last updated: October 14, 2026

What is AI-generated

Meal plans, the “Tonight” options, the reasoning shown with a plan, and recipes you import from a web page are produced or reshaped by an AI language model. Calorie and macro figures are estimates the model writes down, then we scale per person. They are not measured or lab-tested values.

What we send to the model

To generate, we send the model your household's diet, allergies, disliked ingredients, cuisines, cooking time, country, goal and calorie targets, and reactions to past meals. We do not send names, email addresses or account identifiers. The model is provided by Anthropic, which processes the request on our behalf. We also keep a log of these prompts and the model's replies, with allergen names removed, to monitor quality. See the Privacy Policy for how this data is handled.

What you should check yourself

  • Allergens. We tell the model that listed allergens must not appear and we check the result, but this reduces the risk and does not remove it. Always read ingredient labels and watch for cross-contamination.
  • Nutrition. Figures are approximations. 7cal is not medical, dietetic or nutritional advice. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are planning meals for a child or an unwell person, ask a qualified professional.
  • Recipes and food safety. Check cooking times, temperatures and storage before you rely on them.

Mistakes happen

AI output can be wrong, repetitive or oddly specific. A person does not review each plan before you see it. If something looks wrong, swap the meal or tell us at support@7cal.app.
